Savannah's climate is humid subtropical. Summers tend to be humid with thunderstorms, and 6 months (June-November) out of the year at risk for hurricanes. Nearly one half of Savannah's precipitation falls during June through September. During the winter months with the city located south of the snow line, it rarely snows. Cold fronts in the winter months can happen with temperatures going as low as 20 degrees, and reach freezing on about 24 days during the winter. The most beautiful months of the year run in the 70's are spring and fall. And of course, with the lovely weather the demand to visit Savannah is at its peak and hotel rates are very high especially on the weekends, and a little less during the week days. So if you are planning a trip in the spring or fall, try to visit during the week to save a little on your lodging expense.
